A couple of 'on the way home pics' from the world juniors.
Pictures are courtesy of good friend Nick Kuhl who does colour on our broadcasts when the Pontiacs travel to Grande Prairie.

While it's great to have Lucas Isley back in Bonnyville as his return to the lineup will have an impact the rest of the team better not think things are now going to be easy. There is still a lot of work left to be done.

On paper I was really looking forward to two games last night. Turns out only one of those games was any good. The battle of the top two teams in the South division disappointed with Okotoks skating themselves to a 4-0 lead after two. There were 94 minutes in penalties called in the third period. The battle for 6th in the North didn't disappoint though with St. Albert scoring the final two goals in the third to come back and tie the game forcing overtime. Scott Elkow recorded his hat trick goal early in the extra frame as the Steel down Lloydminster and open up a 4 point gap for the right to avoid Grande Prairie in the first round of the playoffs.

If the playoffs were to start today these would be the matchups.
NORTH
G.P vs. Lloydminster: The Storm are 3-0 against the Cats so far this year.
Sherwood Park vs. St. Albert: There will be 157 goals scored in this 5 game series. Through 6 matchups this year the teams are 3-3 against each other.
Bonnyville vs. Fort McMurray: A rematch of last years second round. The Pontiacs have a 3-2 edge in the season series with one win coming in double overtime.
SOUTH
Brooks vs. Canmore: The Bandits are 2-1 against the Eagles this year. All games were played during the Hudson/Odegard era.
Olds vs. Camrose: A battle of the bears first round series could turn into a classic. The Kodiaks hold a 4-2 series edge on the Grizz.
Calgary Canucks vs. Drumheller: The season series is tied at 2. For what it's worth Matthew McKay had three points in those 4 games.

Does that imply that Spruce Grove gets a bye??
If the playoffs were to start today then yes, Spruce Grove and Okotoks both recieve first round byes.
If those are the actual match ups come March I don't see any upsets. Maybe Camrose.
All three series in the North go 5 game as the Bobcats prove to be tougher at home than people thought and McInnis turns his season around. G.P. will win game 5 at home while the Steel upset the Cru despite McInnis having to make 48 saves in game 5. Bonnyville will take game 5 at home against the mob.
Brooks sweeps Canmore. Olds beats Camrose in 4 and Drumheller will upset the Canucks, also in 4.
I am not sure Bonnyville wins. Mob just picked up two good d. What has Bonnyville done to strengthen their team other than add Isley. Not enough to go all the way.Bv in 7 GP in 6 and Sp in 6
The first round in the AJHL playoffs is a best of 5. All other rounds are a best of 7.
