GAMEDAY

Finally back at it again tonight as the Drumheller Dragons come to town. It's been a long week off for the Pontiacs with the team finally getting a chance to get some good practice time in. It will be an interesting start to the game tonight as we will find out of the layoff will mean the Pontiacs come out a little flat or if they are bursting with energy and take it to the Dragons early on.

-----

Marc Antoine Juneau and Greg Brown are both suspended for tonight's game because they were involved in fights while one was already taking place during the game Sunday against the Calgary Royals. To take their place in the lineup the Pontiacs have called in affiliated players Steven Jean and Blake Leask. Jean plays midget hockey in Lloydminster, not sure if we should hold that against him, who got into one game earlier this year for the Pontiacs. Leask is from the Edmonton area and stuck around with the Pontiacs well after training camp ended and through the first part of the season but never got into a game. The kid strikes me as an awfully talented youngster that will be very good for the Pontiacs next year or the year after as he's only 16.

Also out of the lineup will be Belyk and Cuthbert as they continue to rehab their injuries. Devon Kalinski was listed as doubtful for tonight's game but that has been changed to 'out'. He will also not play because of the laceration to his face he sustained against Sherwood Park. Here's how Devon described what the doctor did to try and fix his face:

"I guess they made 15 or so holes to pull it all together. Technically on the outside it is only one big stitch but they had to make like 15 slots to pull it all together. plus the 6 inside the cut. so i guess it was at least 23 stitches. but they also for good measure glued it together as well just incase i smiled or something and it didn't like rip open."

Kalinski is very hopefull about being back in time for Wednesday night in Grande Prairie. He also says he's a fishbowl guy as opposed to a cage guy.

Tonight's game is the last of a 6 game home stand for Bonnyville before they head out onto the road for a pair in G.P. next week.

-----

I did play by play for the AJHL at the Showcase weekend for a game between the Dragons and the Thunder. The Thunder used pair of 5 on 3 chances to keep themselves close but the Dragons were able to score goals in bunches as the game went on to pull away. The Pontiacs will have to be aware of the up front talent on this Drumheller squad.

The Pontiacs hold their auction night tomorrow at the agriplex. It's always a good time and if you are going to be there then bring your chequebook because it's a worthwhile cause.

-----

Of course the power rankings return on Monday but watch for a new Wednesday feature.
