Power Rankings on TheRobbHunter.com are compiled by a panel of media members who follow the AJHL. Last weeks rankings are in ().
1. Sherwood Park Crusaders (1) – Got through a tough stretch of their schedule relatively unscathed. Will they slip up in the near future?
2. Spruce Grove Saints (2) – 3 out of a possible 4 points against Sherwood Park means they are right there with the Cru but they needed a sweep to vault them into first. Any dropped points from the number one might mean a new king a top the rankings.
3. Grande Prairie (3) – OJ Simpson did not have a defense like this. This team has won five in a row including a victory over Sherwood Park. It’s a three horse race for tops in these Rankings.
4. Bonnyville Pontiacs (4) – Injuries still the story but a win over south division leading Brooks keeps them ahead of the Bandits despite the OT loss to Camrose. They have an important two game set in Fort McMurray this week.
5. Brooks Bandits (5) – Tough, talented and stellar in net. This team is going to be tough to knock off the top of the South division.
6. Okotoks Oilers (7) – With health no longer the issue it was the hard charging Oilers went 3-0 on the week and have Bandits in their sights.
7. Fort McMurray Oil Barrons (6) – Down here because they are a game under .500 over the last 5, all at home. They get credit when they win at home they have to get extra demerit points against when they lose in one of the toughest barns to play in.
8. St. Albert Steel (11) – Biggest mover of the week mainly because of what the teams now below them have accomplished over the same time period. They do get 3 points of 4 but against Okotoks they gave up a larger lead than Hillary Clinton had at the start of the primaries. How does that happen?
9. Olds Grizzly’s (8) – Ouch! Literally, big injury troubles a factor in 0-3 week.
10. Calgary Canucks (10) – Falling faster than General Motors the Canucks seem to have lost that early season sizzle having won just 1 in their last 10.
11. Drumheller Dragons (9) – Okay. They have 2 wins in their last 10 including a victory over the Canucks how is Calgary ahead of them? Well the Canucks tied the Royals while the Dragons have a loss to the Thunder on their resume. Tie trumps loss.
12. Camrose Kodiaks (13) – Beware South Division. This team is once again on the rise. The Kods are making moves to bolster the offense while still boasting arguably the best group of defensemen in the league. We’ll see where they end up next week after a week of Drumheller, G.P. and Fort Mac.
13. Canmore Eagles (14) – We’ll give them the one week bump for their 2-1 record in their last 3 but they have to start keeping the puck out of their own net.
14. Lloydminster Bobcats (12) – If they didn’t know before, they know now, Grande Prairie is a tough place to be. Might not deserve to be below the Eagles but prove us wrong with games against St. Albert and Bonnyville.
15. Drayton Valley Thunder (16) – Congratulations Drayton, you made it out of the bottom spot. For your prize you get to hang out with the Crusaders and Saints. Best of luck to you!
16. Calgary Royals (15) – Well they are undefeated in their last two games against the Canucks. It’s just too bad there are 14 other teams in the league they can’t beat.
